Overview:
The 3-day Tarangire and Ngorongoro safari gives a full day in each park rather than partial days, which meaningfully improves the quality and depth of wildlife encounters. Tarangire gets two full game drives — morning and afternoon — giving you the best opportunity to find predators active at dawn and the large elephant herds at the river during the heat of the day. The Ngorongoro day is a full crater floor experience with a packed lunch inside. Two nights sleeping inside national parks, waking up to the sounds of the African bush.

Day-by-Day Itinerary — 3-Day Tanzania Safari: Tarangire & Ngorongoro

Day 1: Moshi → Tarangire National Park
- Tarangire NP
Depart Moshi after breakfast. Drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 3 hours). Arrive for a full afternoon game drive — the Tarangire River corridor is the focus, where wildlife concentrates during the dry season. The elephant herds here are among the largest in northern Tanzania. Overnight at a mid-range tented camp inside or immediately adjacent to the park.

Day 2: Tarangire Full Day — Morning & Afternoon Game Drives
- Tarangire NP
A full day inside Tarangire with both a morning and afternoon game drive. Dawn game drives are the best time for predator activity — lions are often found near the river in the early light. The afternoon drive covers different areas of the park, including the baobab-studded zones where elephant families gather in large numbers. Lunch at camp. Overnight inside the park.

Day 3: Tarangire → Ngorongoro Crater → Moshi
- Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Early morning departure for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full morning game drive. All five of the Big Five are present in the crater, including the endangered black rhino. The concentrated, enclosed ecosystem means consistently high wildlife density. Picnic lunch inside the crater. Ascend the rim and drive back to Moshi.
