The fastest and most convenient way to reach Zanzibar from Moshi, Arusha, or the Serengeti. Several domestic airlines operate daily scheduled flights to Zanzibar International Airport. Flight time from Arusha is approximately 1 hour. We arrange domestic flight bookings as part of any safari-plus-Zanzibar itinerary.
Several ferry services operate daily between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar Stone Town, with a crossing time of approximately 2 hours. This is a viable option if you are passing through Dar es Salaam anyway, though adding Dar to your itinerary specifically for the ferry is rarely the most efficient routing from the northern circuit.
Zanzibar International Airport receives international flights from several regional hubs including Nairobi, Addis Ababa, and Dubai, as well as some European charter routes during peak season. If Zanzibar is your first stop in Tanzania, you can fly in directly and connect to the mainland for your safari or Kilimanjaro climb afterward.
