Terms and Conditions
Terms and Conditions content
Last updated: September 2025
These terms and conditions govern all bookings made with Maluku Global Tours and Safaris (BRELA Reg. No. 618530), hereinafter referred to as "Maluku", "we", "us", or "the company". By making a booking, the client accepts these terms in full.
1. Booking and confirmation
A booking is confirmed once the client has received a written confirmation from Maluku and the required deposit has been received. A quote or itinerary proposal does not constitute a confirmed booking. Maluku reserves the right to decline any booking at its discretion before confirmation is issued.
2. Deposits and payment
A deposit is required to confirm a booking. The deposit amount and the balance due date will be specified in the booking confirmation. The full balance must be received before the tour departs. Failure to pay the balance by the specified date may result in the booking being cancelled without a refund of the deposit. Payment terms for specific tour types — Kilimanjaro climbs, safaris, Zanzibar packages, and day trips — are detailed in the relevant tour proposal.
3. Cancellations by the client
Cancellations must be notified to Maluku in writing. The following cancellation charges apply as a percentage of the total tour cost: cancellation more than 60 days before departure — loss of deposit only; 30 to 59 days before departure — 50% of total cost; 15 to 29 days before departure — 75% of total cost; fewer than 15 days before departure or no-show — 100% of total cost. These charges reflect costs already committed to by Maluku on the client's behalf including park permits, accommodation deposits, and guide allocations.
4. Cancellations by Maluku
Maluku reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour in circumstances beyond its control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, political instability, park closures, extreme weather, or insufficient bookings for group tours. In such cases, Maluku will offer the client an alternative tour of comparable value or a full refund of amounts paid. Maluku is not liable for additional costs incurred by the client as a result of such cancellations, including flights, visas, or other pre-booked travel arrangements.
5. Travel insurance
Comprehensive travel insurance including medical evacuation and trip cancellation cover is strongly recommended and is the client's own responsibility. Maluku is not responsible for costs arising from cancellation, medical emergency, or evacuation if the client does not hold adequate insurance. On Kilimanjaro, mountain rescue costs can be substantial — insurance covering high-altitude rescue is specifically advised.
6. Health and fitness
Clients are responsible for ensuring they are in adequate health and physical condition for their chosen activity. For Kilimanjaro climbs, clients should be in good cardiovascular health and free from conditions that contraindicate high-altitude exertion. Maluku guides have the authority to require a client to descend from Kilimanjaro on health or safety grounds. No refund is provided for any portion of a tour not completed due to health or fitness reasons.
7. Itinerary changes
Maluku reserves the right to modify itineraries where necessary due to road conditions, weather, park access, or other operational factors. In such cases, Maluku will endeavour to provide alternatives of comparable value. Minor itinerary adjustments do not entitle the client to a refund.
8. Client conduct
Clients are expected to behave in a manner that is respectful to guides, crew, other travellers, local communities, and wildlife. Maluku reserves the right to exclude any client from a tour for behaviour that is dangerous, disruptive, or disrespectful, without refund.
9. Liability
Maluku acts as the principal operator for tours it arranges directly. Maluku is not liable for acts or omissions of third-party service providers including airlines, international transport companies, or accommodation providers outside our direct arrangement. Our liability for any claim arising from a tour is limited to the amount paid for that tour.
10. Governing law
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Any dispute arising from a booking with Maluku that cannot be resolved by agreement shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Tanzanian courts.
